andrews sister

I think everyone loves dressing for fall except me. The colours! The layers! I'd be lying to say I didn't like the colours and textures, but layering fills me with a fair degree of dread. I think it's when my schizophrenic attachment to a rainbow of colours comes back to haunt me... Oh, you thought it would be a good idea to have basics in red, yellow, and army green, did you? Now try layering with that without looking like Jackson Pollock puked on a MirĂ³....

Nevertheless, I'm quite enjoying my only fall purchase to far, this skirt. It was originally £115, bought on sale for £24! I find it a winner on two counts... it reminds me of the 1940s, one of my favourite eras for fashion. I can imagine being an Andrews sister belting out flawless harmony in a London canteen in this skirt (a not very historically accurate image, perhaps). And it's also rather kilt-like, which is always rather fun!

  4. The skirt is awesome. It does have a bit of a uniform look to it that I like. Also I have those boots, I've never worn them though because in my head they are really high heels. Might have to wear them now!

  5. Yay, a khaki skirt! I think it looks great with your colorful shirt. I wear my khaki skirt a lot. It's one of my favorite basics, for sure. I also like how you paired frilly socks with boots!

  6. That skirt ROCKS!!! LOVE the pockets - totally practical! Re: the Andrews sisters - one of my favorite groups since I was a little girl. We might disagree about financial pie slices and Miss Allingham's mystery writing, but we come back together over the Andrews sisters (and that original Sherlock Holmes coat that made me comment the very first time). :-)

  7. Just in case you're wondering how I got hooked on the Andrews sisters as a kid, I blame Disney:

Your fear of layering is very imaginative my dear. And your terrace is fabulous.

  26. Haha your post made me laugh! Partly because I can relate to your fear of layering, and the crazy colours. It's really necessary to layer in Sydney even in winter because they're so mild, and I just haven't learnt how to do it yet :(

  27. you should just layer up like silly, more is more! :-D and this is adorbs, those socks are killing me.

  28. HAh! I am so with you there... I hate hate layers for the first few weeks of Autumn. Always. I never get it, I sit around wonder what on earth I wore last year... but slowly it all seems to start working. That said, I am very happy to be home in the beginnings of summer and peeling off those layers now!

Love this skirt! And pockets too? Winner.
