a clean beginning

I'm rather a fan of excess, you may have noticed. In clothing (colour colour colour! sparkles!), in life (lived in four countries last year), in holidays (wine, baileys, port, cookies, cakes, cheese, Christmas dinner)... you get the point. But the first days of January are definitely a time for taking a breath and attempting to calm down a bit on the excess. Time for jeans and a cozy sweater. Time for piling your hair on your head in a no-nonsense style. Time for taking stock of future plans. We just won't mention the "café con baileys" I had for breakfast this morning.

  2. 1. I LOVE your sweater. It's never not a good time for animal sweaters.
    2. It kind of reminds me of this picture of Elijah Wood that's been floating around on tumblr:

  9. I am loving your photos lately! Can you wear your hair like that all the time? That is the one hairstyle I want to grow my hair for but my hair is too thick and wouldn't stay up... So instead, I must stare enviously at yours!

  10. I feel like that about January too, it's a time to think about last year, think about the future, and especially relax from all the December madness. I just wish I could be relaxing in the snow!! Well not literally in the snow, but you know... The weather is is so mild I am getting bored, I got my Dr Martens especially for snowy/icy times and they're nowhere around here!

I love your relaxed but cute outfit, the sweater and jeans is a great winter combo, but I am just wandering how the hell are your feet not freezing without socks! :p

  11. @Raquel: well, I stayed in most of the day. Later we went out to a nearby town, but I wore my snowboots, as I'm not suicidal! : D

  21. Super cute sweater! And I feel exactly the same way. January feels like a time to breathe and relax, but I think I'm going to try to be as productive as possible since I have had a pretty lazy December.

I really adore your heels, as well!

  34. Those jeans fit you like a glove- I'm jealous. I've been on a jeans hunt lately to no avail. Also that sweater is so perfectly January and cozy! I love it.

I agree that though I tend to be a fan of excess, I appreciate the calm and fresh start that the new year brings. I'm looking forward to laying low for a while and simplifying life.
