Flashback! Cadaqués 2008

I haven't done a flashback for a while, but today in my Catalan class we were discussing the Dalí museum, which made me think of Dali's house that I visited almost three years ago. Which made me think of Cadaqués, the nearby village in the Costa Brava which was the reason for the trip, and these photos. Also, strangely, another woman in my class was wearing this same shirt that I'm wearing here, only in blue. !

So, if you couldn't tell already, Cadaqués is a beautiful little Catalan town on the coast, and Dalí lived just a bit up the coast in the craziest house you can imagine, but apparently when he wasn't being a surrealist genius he was really normal and would walk down to the village and play cards with all the other little old men.

When I am a famous author I will make a point of having a beautiful coastal villa. ; ) And I shall wear cotton dresses and these shoes every day.

  2. Why will you have to delete the last photo? It's so sweet! I would love to visit this town someday and see Dali's house. I can't even imagine how interesting it must be. And even without his house, the town is just beautiful.

  5. Oh Dali is my favorite painter of all time. I remember in elementary school I made a project about him, and since then I always found him interesting. You are so lucky to have been there.

  7. This place loos absolutely glorious! I love Dali - he is one of those artists whose work is mind-blowingly awesome in the original. Never as good in reproduction.

And I think with your many many travels I would happily make you the expert on everywhere :)(or at least most of everywhere)

  16. I remember a song from a Catalan group (Sopa de Cabra) who says...
Nascut entre Blanes i Cadaqués, molt tocat per la tramuntana...

I hope tha when you are famous, the followers of your blog, will have reduced cost entry? :p

  18. This looks like a great place to visit! I find it looks like a mix between some of Madeira's fishing towns and some little towns in Alentejo (southern Portugal).

And how fun that Dalí lived in a crazy house though played cards with old guys?

Hope when you're famous you'll invite me to your villa!! hehe

  20. I think you just put this place on my list of places I need to see :)

And your line about living in a place like this and wearing cotton dresses everyday??? Pretty sure that is my dream :)

  21. Haha! Cycling in a maxi skirt is easy, you just tuck in the bottom into the waist and create a short baloony skirt. With the dress its a bit more tricky, you need to hold the end in your hand...might not be the safest thing to do...
    enjoy the beach!

  23. It looks really lovely there. I want a villa; writer or not. :)
P.S. Yes, I focus the camera on a very specific rock/spot (if there isn't a good spot to focus on I usually set my purse where I intend to stand & focus the camera on that). It's hard to do at the moment b/c I'm using an 85mm, which means the focus is usually a good distance from the tripod & a very narrow field; so I really have to run between shots. :)
