à collioure
Isn't Collioure (or Cotlliure) one of the prettiest seaside towns you've ever seen? With its Medieval buildings, the intense, paradise blue of the sea and sky embracing the town from above and below, the sunshine and the blustery wind... Summer is 100% my favourite season of the year, and although it wasn't exactly summery (note the appearing and disappearing cardigan) it was so lovely to be by the seaside in the sunshine.
The town was crowded, but after an infuriating time parking (luckily our rental car was a Smart, so we took the space no one else could fit into, woohoo) we managed to avoid most of the tourists by keeping out of the restaurants; instead we ate quiche and ice-cream on the beach, and wandered up to a cliffside lookout, where we perched on some deserted steps overlooking the panorama.
I'm wearing a dress from the 70s that was made by Albert's mom! And if anyone's wondering, the orangey smoke in the third picture is from a simulated rescue mission they were conducting in the bay (you can see the helicopter in another shot...)

dress: vintage, cardigan: absolutely ancient, belt and purse: vintage via my mom, shoes: Steve Madden via ebay, sunglasses: TKMaxx

Emily, what a great trip you guys took! The weather looks like those days when your okay if in the sun but chilly otherwise...these photos are gorgeous and that dress what a lovely gift---those smart cars are pretty amazing.
This is one of the most beautiful towns (and blog posts for that matter) that I have ever laid eyes upon! Your vintage dress looks perfect against the blue backdrop of the sea. After your last post, which I happened to just read, I was like I cannot wait to see this seaside town! This is for sure now on my "must travel to one day" list.
Ahhh-mazing!
I can't believe you are in paradise and I am at a desk. Not fair!
It looks so relaxing and gorgeous. You alo look fab.
Keep having fun.

@The Braided Bandit: Good! I really do recommend the whole region!
@Miss Porkchop: Actually, I'm in bed, and holidays are sadly a thing of the past. Working in six hours, ouch.
GORGEOUS!!
More and more I'm realizing I like quite a few pieces from the 70s. Who woulda thunk?
@Ashley: Yeah, I've never much cared for the overall 70s aesthetic, but individual pieces can be well-made and easy-to-wear.
You are so cute and love your pics!
What a beautiful place! Your red dress contrasts so nicely with the blue of the water and sky. I think eating by the beach sounds infinitely better than eating at a tourist-filled restaurant!
Gorgeous vintage red-orange dress? Cozy cardigan? Braided belt? Oxfords? Check, check, check, check. Yep, I love this outfit. How fun that you know this history behind that dress - I love it when that happens! That town is ridiculously picturesque, and basically, I just love this post from top to bottom.

At first I thought, 'Dang, Emily got that Madewell dress!' then, upon reading that it was an inherited piece, I realized that was even better. It looks fresh and lovely on you. And boy, do I want to go to the seaside now.
A from A + B in the Sea
@Amelia: wow, wine is the one thing that would make it even better I think!

my goodness, this place is gorgeous. I would love to live in a little town like that although I dont think I could really deal with all the tourists. That dress looks great on you. The color really pops.
A Medieval town by the sea. Oh, yes. It's not just pretty, it's extraordinary. And eating quiche and ice cream on the beach! I'll never be able to eat quiche again without feeling a subtle pang ;)
I know you love white dresses come summertime, but I think this frock could rival that. It just screams Emily's Summer Adventures!
@Emily: true! And orange dresses are less of a problem when the ice cream starts melting...
These photos are so lovely and make me ache for summertime. I love that that dress was made by Albert's mom! So cool. It looks beautiful on you!

Looks like a medditeranean paradise & a lovely day! & way to go avoiding the tourists and surely overpriced tourists restaurants! I can't tel you the times Jonny and I bought quiche and ice cream (sometimes a whole carton at once... "it was the cheapest") from little grocery stores during our Spain travels. Albert's mom did an amzing job on that dress too!
