leica moments

Albert bought an old film Leica on ebay last year, and we've been bringing it along on some outings since then (then forgetting to get the films developed for months and months. I originally posted this outfit back in June, but I liked the Leica photos enough to post some more now (also, hot and sweaty as that day was, I kind of miss it from the point of view of shivery February). I particularly like the photos of the surrounding neighbourhood--Plaça Espanya, close to where I live. Black and white photos shot on faintly grainy film always have a sense of gravitas that is missing from digital photography. I mean, it's all in our heads, but they do. I'm not sure if these photos of the city are more or less realistic than digital colour photos would be... on the one hand, life is obviously in colour, on the other, the heavy humid air is captured pretty perfectly in Black and White!

I love these shots! That first one is my favorite!!
In a way I do miss old camera photos, the vintage-y feel is so much more fun than the perfect photos of DSLRs haha

These are amazing. They have a blissfully eerie quality to them.

@Lauren: Yeah, I'd say eerie is about right, actually!

These are just what I needed to see to jumpstart my re-entry into film photography. I have missed taking photos, but have felt no real desire to do so for quite some time now. I think I may be ready again. A big thanks to both you and Albert for the inspiration.

I absolutely loved your first posts in digital here, but these are even more stunning. there definitely is something about the grainy b&w. If I hadn't seen your blog before you could've fooled me that they were from a magazine in the 70's or so, or maybe the decor in the second shot makes me think that.

Such gorgeous photos, you look like something out of a former decade. Beautiful.
