beautiful pavements
So, I'm still not ready to talk about the birds that were eating my head, but here's an outfit from Lisbon. I went with a few friends last weekend, and it was my first time in Portugal. Lisbon's quite a grand old city, exuberant colonial architecture that looks like it's been falling down for at least a century, quaint little trams, and amazing food... but I'll share pictures of all that next time.
I borrowed this amazing Family Affairs jumper dress from my friend Anna, owner of the world's most enviable closet, and risked my ankles prancing around on the cobblestones. As I've mentioned before about Family Affairs, I really like that their designs are youthful and playful without being juvenile. Perfect for people like me, getting decidedly adult in years, but apparently not in lifestyle or maturity...

So pretty!
Ohhh it's always nice to see pictures form your country on other people's blogs, and through their eyes. I'm really glad you enjoyed Portugal :D
@Ana: Everything except the weather, but I guess most of Europe is having a chilly spring! Lisbon is really beautiful!
I'm wondering if that monument behind you is the tribute to Prince Henry the Navigator. I think that's a major sight in Lisbon.
Eye-catching green trim on that outfit!
That is gorgeous pavement! I really loooved Lisbon when I went a few years ago.
Your dress is lovely :)
Yikes I hope the birds layer low the rest of the trip! Gorgeous photos!
That dress is awesome! And I love those streets, what a cool design! :D

Lisben! How cool! I went to Porto earlier and absolutely loved it; someday I'll get to Lisben too!
I hope you're feeling better from whatever was going on!
Oh your friend is so sweet for letting you borrow that little dress, is so vivid and fun! Can't wait to see pics of Lisbon!

she owns more than my closet, my heart!
I never understand why we change the name to places like lisboa, seems easy enough to say I English but that's a side point.I love the place to for the very reasons you said and your over take me back to being in that very plaza almost exactly six years ago! love that dress on you also, def super fun and perfect for you.
that dress is lovely!
Emily, Lisbon is at the top of my list of European cities to visit. Lucky you! I love the dress by the way. So, while traveling around Brazil the pavement was very similar and I read that it represented two rivers that ran alongside one another. one appeared black the other white because they carried very different properties. Now I'm thinking it must be the colonial influence.
Much love,
Monique
I simply adore this dress, the textures in it are so beautiful.
I've always wanted to Lisbon. Haven't been to Portugal in years and just the coast but my parents liked Lisbon. Can't wait to see more photos and hear your thoughts on it, maybe 2013 is the year I revisit beautiful Portugal

I love that wavy pavement. I remember in Albufeira, Portugal the building were also falling apart. Added to the character, I guess.
I hope the birds have stopped eating your head. Dear god!
I am so jealous! Both of the location and of the dress ;)
Hope you're ok and that there are no more birds eating you!
I find that that's how I want to dress more and more these days, too, but I feel like I am pretty unsuccessful at pulling it off.
Anyway -- Portugal! My uncle and I were just talking about travel the other night and he shared some tales from Portugal with me. I've been working on a list of places to visit within the next 5 years and Portugal is very near the top.
