updates

Oh hello again. It's been at least two weeks since I last showed my face around here. In part, this is because I've been walking with my sister through Galicia for over a week, and a laptop definitely didn't make the cut for things I wanted to carry around on my back all that time. But in truth, I haven't known what to say around here much at all the last few months (note my dismal lack of posts).

Life got in the way. My relationship of five years ended, and I've been torn on posting, not wanting to hurt various people (which didn't work). It was a hard few months for everyone involved, and sometimes it still is. I was glad to disappear with my family for over a month, although I didn't have any epiphanies while away from it all. Instead, in the time-honoured tradition of newly-separated women, I dyed my hair (the above colour is the sensible compromise--I was initially thinking pastel pink).

Anyway, I'm back! And have some catching up to do...

We obviously need an email to catch up. I've meant to sit down and write one forever, but...life. Ugh. I hope you're doing well. Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL.
hugs!

No worries, I've been thinking the same thing. Email soon. :)
Thanks, I was being spastic about my hair before, but quite liked it once done, even though it's more artificial looking than I wanted!

I'm really sorry to hear Emily. That is very hard indeed. But the good news is that you can take lessons with you and the rest will heal eventually. If you need anything, let me know.

I think this is such a hard age for two people to continue to go in the same direction together (when I can barely figure out what I want on my own)! Either way, I'm sorry to hear about your relationship :/
That said, your hair looks amazing! I have been thinking about dyeing mine red for the longest time but I am a big chicken!
Happy Friday!

I'm sorry to hear about your breakup! That is always a really hard thing to go through but at least you were able to escape from everything for a while with your family

Emily, sorry to hear about the breakup. I'm glad you're back and with a smile on your face. I know your sisters mean so much to you and it's wonderful you got to spend time with them. It takes time to build a relationship and when it's over it takes time for you to heal from it. Allow yourself that. I once heard this lyric in a song. The relationship died, so you could be born. Cheers to the next leg of your journey.

this photo could be mine one year ago, with the "clip" on the hair and redhair, and the scarf... twins forever. It's gonna be a great summer, I know.
Love you my little saint (i think you should post the photo with your sis before going on hiking, hihihihih)

Watch out for the stampede of suitors when you change your Facebook status to single.

Are you doing the Camino de Santiago?

@Gordianus: We were doing part of it, yes!

I am sorry to hear about your break up. 5 years is a long time to grow with someone and it's a huge change to see the end of that relationship. I am glad you are back and welcome to the new phase of your life (loving the hair!)
Take care, the walking sounds great!

i'm so sorry to hear Emily. Five years spent with someone is such a chunk of our lives at this age that I can only imagine how hard that must be. I'm glad you've made such a wonderful group of friends over there that you can lean on for support, and of course your beautiful sisters as well. Sending you a big virtual hug!

So I just read the blog post about you cutting your hair (didn't comment on that one, but it looks adorable), and noticed the keyword: ex. So I went on the hunt through your older posts and found this. Which I missed. I am sorry, Emily. Five years is a long time, but since it's been several months since this happened, I hope that you are now thriving and moving forward! :)
