the hols

Summer has finally arrived in Barcelona, so I feel the need to finish up the England pictures quickly and consign sweaters to the dust-bin of memory. Actually, they've all been sent back to Canada, so it's just as well it decided to get warm here.

Anyway, Whitby and surroundings, home of stunning sea vistas, giant Yorkshire puddings, Goth Weekend, and the peculiarly Yorkshire sense of humour.

It looks like this up close:

Goth Weekend! I don't think I'd ever been before. Basically Goths and Steampunks come from all over the country/world to get dressed up and parade through the picturesque streets.

The only people more in evidence than the goths are the photographers and their big lenses.

And night fell, and then we went to Glasgow for two days but I didn't take many pictures because I was too busy visiting old friends and eating bacon sandwiches and dying my hair red. :P

I went up to Yorkshire a while ago and it was glorious! So glad to see you had nice weather, the only time I've ever been to Whitby was with my very German (and thus not accustomed to Yorkshire) father and we had chips in the rain. Looks like you had a better time!
Can't wait to see what your hair looks like

I love that last photo and I also love pasties. They are a local favorite in Butte, MT, which is a former mining town. The miners carried those pasties down underground with them.

So beautiful. I love the colourful buildings on the beach.

I'm personally thinking of building a steampunk airship complete with billiards room and death ray. Then I could perhaps attend this festival while conquering Europe. If you'd like to be an investor, just let me know!

I read about what has happened in your life lately in an earlier post. I sort of had the feeling that was what was going on. I hope things have settled down a bit and that you've managed to find your balance again. I do think your new haircolour looks lovely :)

I am glad that your time away in England was filled with an abundance of good things. And good people. It's been obvious from blog day one that your family means the world to you. I hope you've been doing well in the days since returning to Barcelona.

Whitby looks incredible, such a picturesque old seaside town. are those actually houses way down on the seaside? all the costumes are so awesome too, what a fun time to be there. does your dad live there and the rest of your family in Canada? Really cool you could celebrate his bday with him! best wishes to you all for many more!
