being bohemian

Even when I go into the office, I can more or less wear what I want, but since I've been working from home for much of the summer, I've been applying that rule even more liberally. On this particular day, it meant wearing a vintage slip that my grandmother had had in the 1940s, trying to make my hair curl a bit, some flower clips, bare feet, and a cup of hot tea clutched compulsively throughout the day.

I felt suitably bohemian, although I can't remember if that made me more or less productive. I did put some proper clothes on when I went for my mid-day walk however... there's only so bohemian you can be in Hamilton, and although this slip is probably thicker and better made than some of my dresses, it's still underwear...

I have a little collection of vintage slips. (A while ago, I found one embroidered with "Lillian"--my late grandmother's name!) It's amazing how well made they are, and I'm always trying to figure out ways to wear them in the world. Lucky that you've been working from home and can wear a slip without a second thought!

Exactly! I was thinking that in certain places, a slip with a silk scarf through the hair would be fine for a picnic, but it really would depend on the city and your friends. :P

The two flowers in the hair remind me of a 90s Drew Barrymore :)

I'd almost be tempted to go back to working in publishing just to wear slips and other such fancy bohemian finery when working from home :) On days when I used to work from home I often just stayed in my pjs thinking that was an indulgence! Loving your short hair by the way!

i frequently find myself sitting at my writing desk in my prettiest nightgown in the middle of the day, after having gotten up and gone straight to work - it isn't vintage, but very much looks like it - a sort of off-white princess dream with lace and fine embroidery - it's just too precious to be only worn when asleep!

Perfect outfit for working from home, this vintage slip looks wonderful! I love it how you paired it with just two flower clips, your new hair and a cup of tea. End of Summer perfection.

Totally works as a dress! I have dresses that look like this. Do it, wear it out! X

I've always been wanting a vintage slip, but am yet to see one that is both cotton (not a polyester fan) and big enough!
