of beehives, babies and bows

Photobucket

I generally don't feel retro enough for a full beehive, but I like encouraging my hair to go a little ways in that direction from time to time. And I like bows, especially in a double dose at my neck and feet.

This outfit was worn for a) empanadas, hot chocolate milk and alfajores at the café across the street from my house. Alfajores are my new doom... two pieces of shortbread with dulce de leche inbetween. Soooo. good. and b) going to meet the new baby of some friends of mine. Conclusion: More alfajores as soon as possible, and no babies for at least another five years!

P.S. As I've mentioned before, I write weekly articles for a Barcelona tourism website, Barcelona Planning. I'd love if you wanted to make me look good by visiting... I've just written an article about some of the very, very strange Christmas traditions of this region!

Probably one of my fave outfits of yours, I just love the blouse with your hairdo! That dessert sounds sooo yummy! Now I'm craving shortbread:)

Love this outfit - the bow tie is so cute! Also love the beehive, I can't only dream of having enough hair to do it myself...

A colleague came into work last week with her six week old baby and, as lovely as he was, it made me think the same - I need at least another five years!

love your blouse and the beehive is a nice touch. Yeah babies are cute as long as they are sleeping but once they wake up its a whole other ballgame.

Ah! Your little beehive! Looking good! And this outfit is, sigh, perfection. I'm rather dramatic today, hehe.

That little feast of yours sounds and looks delicious. I'd be all over alfajores. The Spanish sure know what they're doing in the sweets department.

Sure Em, we'll make you look good :)

Have you also had Choripan? Mmmmm...Argentine food is muy delicioso!!

These are such pretty pictures Emily! I love that blouse on you with your adorable beehive hair style. You look so happy with your Alfajores too. They sell some at the cafe where I work but I fear that they are a poor knock off of the real thing. Also, the chocolate milk in those glass bottles looks too good to be true. Yummy!
XOXO

You should wear your hair styled like this more often, it looks wonderful. I like the little black bow tied on your shirt too, definitely a style I want to try soon.

Those treats sound tasty, I've actually had alfajores before at a Cuban cafe. They're indeed very yummy.

Oh I love this outfit! You look so pretty in those clothes and that hairdo, I wish I had the patience to do something to mine ha!

Oh I see babies every work day so I know I am not ready for a while too!

Oh goodness, I would like some alfajores and hot chocolate milk right about now. And every day, for that matter.
Also, you look lovely! That blouse is beautiful, and I love your hair like that :)

ooh never heard of that sweet, is it from Catalunya? Or maybe I was just spacing out & making a decent effort at avoiding pastry (but not ice cream) shops! Love the behive! You did a great job making it stay up & goes perfect w/ the outfit, super cute top & coat. I feel EXACTLY the same when I see babies, esp newborns. Everyone's a oohing & awwing & that's all I can think! haha

@dusana: I think Alfajores are maybe Argentinian? Don't quote me on that, but the empanada café is, and dulce de leche...

What a cool blouse, and I love when you wear a beehive! I feel the same way about alfajores (there's a Peruvian restaurant nearby that has them) and babies (every time I turn around a friend or relative has had a baby...I have yet another baby shower to attend this weekend).

i love the spanish use of "shit." i had no idea about the logs shitting presents though. that's a new one.

do they still say "me cago en la leche" by the way? that was a fave of mine.

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@MariaRamona: My bf does say "me cago en la puta" but then says it's coarse if I say it :D
