wedding bells (not mine)

I should really be packing a suitcase that has been looming over my head for at least a week now, but I guess it's waited this long it can wait a bit longer...

Recently I went to a wedding. This is a pretty normal pastime for people in my age group but I usually can't make it to the ones I'm invited to and so I've only been to this one and one other (to which I also wore this dress). This one was pretty special too, because the ceremony took place on Montserrat, one of the most significant places in the Catalan cultural landscape. On the funicular up the mountain, it was either backpacked, camera toting tourists, and people dressed to the nines for weddings. The one we attended too place in the little chapel behind the famous sculpture of a black virgin, and was in fact the same place where Albert's parents got married in the 70s! I felt like I should get some certificate of Catalan-ness just for being invited.

All in all it was a really lovely day, notwithstanding the part when Albert stuck his head around the door while I was having my morning shower to say "Um... the only train that will get us there in time leaves in 20 minutes." 'Hair' and 'make-up' were done on the train, and ironing just didn't happen at all!

"La Moreneta" from behind, as seen from the chapel. There was a ridiculous line to go an see her, so this was as close as we got on this occasion.

I'd say you did well for yourself, having only 20 minutes. Very impressed with the size of the mountains over the town in the first photo. Is there any chance we'll one day get a front photo of the Black Madonna?

Gorgeous! That first photo is really breathtaking. You look so great, I can't believe you got ready in only 20 minutes. And I'm glad you made it on time to the wedding.
XOXO

Beautiful yellow dress, pretty background. I like how sharp the focus is on you and how blurred it is on the background. Smart choice on depth-of-field.

That's such an incredible place to have a wedding and the view looks stunning! Your dress looks gorgeous too, both the cut and color. For being rushed you look quite amazing! I usually need 40 minutes if I'm to be presentable in any way haha x

long time no see for this dress which is among my favourites :)
abosultely true what you said about our age group and wedding invitations - they seem to have increased the last 2 years!

Well, you look great, especially in the shawl, and the location is fantastic. I believe it is associated with the Holy Grail?

It's interesting to visit places in Europe that have namesakes in the western hemisphere. I went to Durango in Spain, and it's odd to think there's a city in Colorado and a whole state in Mexico named after such a little town.

You always have the most incredible backdrops for your photos! I love it. And that church is gorgeous, too. I'm impressed that you were able to get ready so quickly - you could have fooled me!

. Emily, the chapel and the backdrop is incredible. Great dress for a wedding and you don't look wrinkled nor do you look like you rushed at all. These photos are really beautiful. The last one is such a great portrait of you.

. you'll be glad to know that i took your advice. i wore the same dress two different weddings. it makes sense to get as much use out of a dress as possible.

. Cute photo of Albert

I've yet to be to a friends' wedding-- it's always been parents of friends or family members. I suppose I'm at that age now as to where it will begin-- it's so crazy to me to see my friends becoming engaged (something that has happened) and to watch the kids I've grown up with take on adult roles.

You look lovely. I can't even imagine doing my eyeliner on a train!
