those hummingbirds all in your hair

I just spent a week up in cottage country in Ontario where my grandfather lives full-time. It was the usual week of drinking morning tea on the porch while hummingbirds and chick-a-dees and goldfinches and grackles and blue jays and the occasional squirrel all duked it out over the bird feeders. I went out in the canoe with some family members, spent a lot of time reading old favourites on the dock, and revelled in my favourite summer purchase of the year, this playsuit from Q's Daydream. I was a bit worried that I would feel too revealed in it to wear out much, but I don't at all. The high-waisted skirt covers me up, the top is super flattering, and I love love love the pattern of little birds, (which is limited edition by the way, there are only two left). Anyway, major love affair on my part. I want to wear it every remaining day of summer, and the skirt will happily see me into Autumn as well. And of course I had to pair it with the bird necklace my sister got me for Christmas.

Also, check out the second to last picture of a deer swimming across the lake! I've never seen anything like it, and it was way out in the middle!

That outfit is gorgeous. The pattern is just so cute =]

I don't blame you for wanting to wear it all the time =]

They're also great pictures of the deer by the way. Beautiful.

This sounds like a perfect summer trip, with a perfect summer outfit to go right along with it. I definitely eyed that play suit a few times, myself!

That sounds so idyllic! I love morning tea on the porch, and in the presence of all sorts of birds it is even more lovely. The little deer is so cute! He must've been trying to cool off :)

I love the bird print. Hmmmm maybe I should have gotten that one. It fits you so well Emily. I love how your necklaces have been so perfect for your outfits lately. Deer are such graceful animals. That's so cool you caught that. I love the last pic.

It sounds like such a lovely time in Ontario. ;)

My family and I planned a cabin retreat ourselves earlier this July. It's so nice to be immersed in nature, though we didn't see any deer like you did! Mostly just loads and loads of toads.

I really like this playsuit on you. I've been trying to find one, but I'm super self-aware of my belly and am afraid I'd look bad! Suppose I'll just live vicariously through you.

@Amber Rose: honestly, it's not like I have a super-toned belly or anything. This kind of playsuit with the high waist, is super flattering. The only bit that's actually exposed is your lower ribcage!

Ahhh these are amazing! Your little bird print playsuit is so cute, I have been envious of them ever since I saw it worn on The Fiercest Lilliputian blog! It really doesn't look revealing at all and fits you perfectly!

This cabin time sounds perfect, I am hoping to get some time away by a lake or camping before the seasons change! The picture of the deer is amazing! Thanks for sharing :)

I had no idea that deer could swim!

I seem to remember your photo at this place from last summer--you were wearing something in red and it was one of my favorites of you last year. Perhaps you are most relaxed when you visit this place, but something about the photos taken here always stand out.

And I can see why this is your favorite summer purchase!

oh so cute. and very flattering. i also have eyed tops to wear like this, but worry about revealing too much. you've worn it just the perfect way....high waisted skirt shows just the right amount of skin. lovely.

Your grandfather certainly has a beautiful slice of earth to call home. And what a way to spend a week. It all sounds so marvelously relaxing. The photo of the deer swimming across the lake is so neat. How fortunate to you were to capture it!

I must agree with Annebeth. You do look stunning in your Q's Daydream playsuit! I'm definitely a fan of Quincy's creations. They all look like such fun to wear.

I had a nagging feeling I made a typo in my comment on this post and sure enough there it is in all it's annoying glory. Whoops ;)

Love that first picture also & the dress really is lovely, fits you perfectly, is so sweet and I agree, the high skirt makes the crop completely ok.
