one giant leap for my wardrobe

I spent much of last winter doing periodic Etsy trawls in search of the perfect corduroy jumper dress and concluded it didn't exist. I'm not sure this is the perfect one, but considering it was staring out at me from H&M the day I told myself I was allowed to buy one thing in celebration of getting a second job, it'll do for now! Corduroy is a contender for my all-time favourite fabric, by the way...

And can you tell I'm having a bit of a kneesocks moment? They really suit the climate in Barcelona right now, which is still a bit warm for tights and trousers, but too chilly for bare legs.

dress and socks: H&M, blouse: vintage, shoes: ebay

I'm digging your knee sock phase!

Yay for the new job and finally finding a cute corduroy jumper (so many people hate corduroy with such passion, I'm happy to find a fellow fan!).

This is such a perfect look. I've also been on a search for a cord jumper so might have to indulge. Love the knee socks as well, wish it wasn't too chilly to wear them here x

It looks wonderful on you, would've thought it was Etsy over H&M anyday! I must admire your facial expression considering your jumping/levitating =) xx

@Rachel: Yeah, weirdly, the only pictures where I was making a normal face were the jumping ones... definitely the opposite of what usually happens!

Oh yes, I've noticed the knee-sock trend with you. But you often have trends :) Which is cute...it's fun to see after reading this blog for, um, over a year...or two years?? We've been blog friends for awhile now :)

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@Ashley: haha, yes, I'm a mini-trend-whore. I guess it's been a year and a half... about as long as I've had this blog. And we've def been friends from close to the beginning!

Oh gorgeous!!! I have been on the lookout too...I am definitely heading to an H&M asap ;) I wonder if they have this style in Germany too...I hope so! What section from H&M was it from, do you know? ;) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that :)

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@Anonymous: Hmm, I'm not sure. The label says "Divided," so it's from that range. Other than that I don't really remember. I know they had it in a sort of caramel brown colour too though!

are you floating, you're so happy with your jumper? is this what's happening? :P

it looks adorable, especially with that shirt. and i'm mesmerized at how completely unfazed you are, despite the jumping.

good job catching that jump! You look fantastic in this jumper, so 90s cute & great w/ that pretty blouse & the knee-highs. good idea about knee highs in mildly cool weather, it's still too hot during the day for tights so this could def work.

I also love courduroy :) and that dress suits you so well, you look great in it! I also like your kneesocks moment ;)

I too have a favorite black cord jumper. If I wore knee socks with it I would look like I was wearing a very bad Halloween costume.
You however look adorable! Especially with the heels. If I remember correctly Men like that look very much (I'm really not that old!)
Take care and I loved the pics of the fountain!

I've been looking for a jumper dress like this for AGES and I've been tempted with the H&M one more than once. It looks brilliant on you! Especially with the knee socks :)

I was at a vintage fair with my friend Sarah recently. It was our first shopping trip together, and it's fair to say we dress rather differently. When I told her I was afer a mustard-coloured cord skirt, she looked startled, with a hint of disdain. You understand though, right?

Hi! Oh, how I've missed your blog! I've been here all to infrequently, (I've been without internet at home for the last three plus months)so now I'm playing catch up and reading all your old blog posts on my first night with internet at home!

This makes me feel like I should stop all my restless online boot searching and wait for the perfect pair to just happen. Knee socks really suit you, and go oh so perfectly with that jumper.

It's good to be back!
