i'm getting too old for all-nighters

This weekend was Primavera Sound in Barcelona, and people with fluorescent yellow wristbands, both local and imported for the event, could be seen all over town. This year's lineup was amazing: I saw:
Beirut (love)
Death Cab for Cutie (I'm sorry but snore, bring back The Postal Service)
Refused (hilarious Swedish hardcore band, I'd never heard of them but they were awesome live)
Franz Ferdinand (dance! happy!)
The Japandroids (Vancouver Represent!)
Rufus Wainwright (Canada and my adolescence Represent!)
and The Cure! The concert pic below is The Cure, not that you can tell.

I'm actually not very into music, but even I had to go this year (too bad Bjork cancelled though). Had a great couple of evenings staying up late, eating overpriced tacos and drinking overpriced beer, going to bed at 4 am and working at 8 am (hence my epic dark circles in these pictures).

What acts! That sounds amazing!! I love this dress too - a casual take on leopard print - brilliant!

I am so jealous of you! For the first time Primavera Sound will happen in Portugal too, in Porto. And I don't have anything planned for this summer yet, not even holidays! Gahhh, I will need to go to summer festivals (or at least one!0 next summer as I won't be busy with my course any more.

I am very into getting a leopard print dress, too! I was so close to buying one last week but the fact that I had bought a denim dress minutes before and had no money with me put me off, as it was a sample sale they didn't accept cards. Well, better for my bank account I guess.

Glad to see your enjoying summer!

Wow that sounds like a great lineup! That's really too bad that Bjork cancelled! I've always wanted to hear her live.

I've always enjoyed events like this whether I'm into the music or not. I like to watch the people.

That looks like so much fun! I've seen Franz Ferdinand a few times live and they sure make the crowd dance. :)

Aaw no, Death Cab were great! I looove Ben Gibbard!

@Amber: I sadly didn't make it to the third... ;)

@Celia: They weren't bad, I just prefer the Postal Service and wish Ben Gibbard would quit Death Cab and make some less sappy music! But to each their own!

Rufus and The Cure?? So Jealous!!!

I think plenty of people who find their life boring wouldn't think to call you "too old" for staying up at concerts in Spain. If you're still able to stay up, then do it!

I would have loved to be at a concert like that! We haven't had any good acts coming to SA in a while!

Emily,so great you got to see Beirut I would love to see them live! Sounds like you are really kicking off summer. It's funny how things change. I'm sure a few years back surviving on three or four hours of sleep was just fine but now it hits pretty hard. I know what you mean. I like your cozy outfit. Nothing says summer like comfy sneakers and tote bags. Cheers lady!

You know I love anything in leopard print and you look great. I love all the bands you mentioned except for The Japandroids and Refused, whom I don't know but I'll have to look into now. How sad that Bjork cancelled because that would have been epic!
XOXO

i'm not all that into music either, but i do love a good festival!! there is just something about that overpriced beer that makes everything seem so much more exciting ;) unfortunately my music-loving boyfriend is a bit of a festival snob and doesn't like them (too many crowds). we're not very musically compatible i guess. oh well!

i'm definitely too old to be staying up late these days. such an old woman. but i blame my job more than my age.

Wow, up til 4 and work at 8, I am thoroughly impressed! SO little sleep definitely makes me feel like an old lady now but glad to hear you enjoyed the festivities. Love that leopard dress & headband on you too!
