the birds

Photobucket
In St. Ives, Cornwall, where the seagulls mean business about stealing your Cornish pasty! And oh, how appropriate that it should be in the home county of Daphne du Maurier, who wrote "The Birds." This is Albert's photo of the summer, and like so many awesome photos, it was almost accidental.

Otherwise, this was the last stop in Cornwall before we blitzed back, and I flew to Canada. The seagulls were ridiculously aggressive as you can see. They did have signs posted about how they could be dangerous, but since the British put signs like this everywhere about all sorts of insignificant things, we didn't pay much attention. Damn thing nearly took my ear off!

Meanwhile, every blogger and their dog has this Dahlia dress, but hey, I got it on sale for £15 on the website, which was too good a deal for a gingham obsessive to resist.

The dress is a pretty one. And I can understand why Albert likes the photo. I've had an encounter or two with seagulls, but never as close as this.

Sooo, because I'm always wondering...are you in Canada for holiday? Are you going back to Spain? I ask because maybe I want to come to Spain and need your services as a tour guide ;)

That first photo continues to crack my up. Again, what a fortunate shot ;) I can't get over the look on the bird's face - it's so intent on getting your food! I am glad you escaped unscathed, though.

Good deal on your new gingham! It's easy to see why every blogger and their dog has it. It's too sweet to pass up!

I am pretty sure I may have just snorted when I saw that first shot- way to go Albert, what a capture!!! I am laughing more because I have an awkward bird out take on my current post, though my outtake is way more ugly, and unfortunately<, I was making the face on purpose!

I freakin' love that picture! Great job Albert for catching that moment on film (well, digital)! You look lovely in that little dress even if everyone has it & Cornwall looks gorgeous. I'll have to keep digging to see how this other little adventure went.

Bloomin HECK, that's one crazy bird!!!!! How long did it try and get your chips? Did it get any? What did you do? Did you freeze or run away! I am fascinated by this!

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@Kezzie: it just made the one dive for my pasty. That's why it's ridiculously wonderful that we got this picture! They were all pretty ferocious and eyeing us from all around though!
