anyone fancy a €22,000 guitar?

no, not that one...

No, I'm not giving one away on the blog, but should you want a vintage Fender with hand-painted hula dancers and a hair-raising price tag, you'll find it in the back of a pink vintage car on the second floor of Europe's biggest music store in Cologne, Germany. Albert and I caught a train and went thither last weekend, and while I confess I dozed off for part of our stay at the old-fashioned soda bar, he was a kid in a candy store. My problem is I always seem to gravitate towards the pretty guitars, especially when they come in appealing sea-foamy colours, but apparently that's what you're not supposed to do--like judging a book by its cover I suppose. Anyway, at least the coffee was only a Euro!

that's the one in question!

a rare sighting of the man behind the camera.

Great photos!!! Seems like a fun store to wander around in. Can you imagine someone going in and saying, "I'd really like that hula girl guitar and I'll pay in cash". hehe..

oh la la- finally the mysterious boy behind the pictures :)
btw, I once had a guitar and then I put it on my bed, threw some clothes on it, forgot everything about it, came back home late and sat on it :( oh dear!

My goodness, that's a lot of money! I can't imagine paying that much for a guitar, but hey, I don't really know anything about guitars. The hula girl guitar and the one next to it are pretty wonderful though.

For the first time I am glad I don't know how to play a guitar.

Wow...I can hardly imagine spending that much money on - well, anything, really! What must it be like to have that kind of disposable income?! I'll never know!

I would definitely have gravitated towards the pretty guitars, too. I've stopped myself from buying several musical instruments I can't play, just because they're pretty...

@Laura: Well, I'm guessing that not too many people have that kind of disposable income, as the guitar is still there. It must have a lot of curiosity value. : )

Wow those two guitars are really nice, someone should buy the hula one for Brian Wilson <3

Is Albert german, or is he just living there?

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@celia: no, he's Catalan. : ) Just based in Germany with work for the time being.

Well, Hello Albert! Nice to see you. What? No details on what Albert is wearing? ;-)

Looks like you had a good time, but yikes on the prices of those guitars! I can think of a lot of others things I could do with that money...

Oh, hello Albert!

I love Fender´s, they really are something aren´t they?! My dad actually own´s one (I´m hoping it will someday be mine).
And that hula dancer one?! Amazing!

OMG HE EXISTS! And those are some rather lovely guitars.

wow that is pricey. I would gravitate towards any guitar in a nice shade of pastel pink. I tend to judge books by their covers too, so yeah I guess I'm not as hip as I thought.

@Kallie: haha, you know he exists!

I probably would have snoozed through half the visit, too! I appreciate music, but since I'm not musically inclined what so ever I'd get bored pretty quickly. However, that hula dancer Fender is rather spectacular. I assume Albert plays. Do you?
