sunny tartan christmas

So, I temporarily escaped my essays and the snow that started right when I was taking off, and I'm in Barcelona again for Christmas!

That second picture requires a bit of explanation. In Catalonia, a Christmas tradition is to have a log with a little blanket on top, and a few small gifts underneath (candy, that kind of thing). Later, all the children take a stick and dance around the log, hitting it, and singing "Shit, log, shit log, if you don't shit I'll keep hitting you!" Accordingly, an adult pulls out the gifts from under the blanket and the log is "shitting" presents. I promise I'm not exaggerating it at all, and I'm not translating it any more vulgarly than it is in reality. The Catalans have an amazingly scatological culture. A student gave me a Christmas ornament a few years ago of a little man in a red hat having a poo. I always sneak it into my family's Christmas scene! ; D

I've worn this dress a few times before on the blog, but I never really get tired of it. What's to argue with orange, and tartan on top of that? Anyway, I don't know about you guys, but my favourite blogs are the ones where I see the same items again and again... it makes me feel like the bloggers are real people that I know, rather than just walking closets!

I'll never tire of seeing this dress on you :) So pretty!

While I hadn't heard about this particular tradition it doesn't surprise me. hehe
I am surprised it 's not Mister Hanky the Christmas Poo's home country ;)

Thought of you today when all flights at Stansted were cancelled. Good to hear you got out of the country before all that ;) I am crazy envious of your superior timing :D

I know what you mean, that's why I love The Clothes Horse blog! She wears the same things over and over again and never looking the same, and also because I really love her style.
I adore that dress, and I always wear my dresses with shirts underneath them in winter to keep warm. I see so many bloggers wearing bare arms in snow that I freeze just by looking!!

Funny and weird tradition right? But it must be fun to see haha!

Also glad you arrived safe to Barcelona! Enjoy your time there again :)

Ha! I adored the story about the log! Makes me think out Christmas traditions need to be a bit more fun! I agree with seeing items again :D

Although I used to have such a big closet in my last year of school that I never wore the same thing twice! (50c thrift store scores) This dress is lovely so I can see why you love it so much!

hahahaha! That is the best Christmas song/tradition I have EVER heard of. haha :)

I agree with you haha! Walking closets is a real funny way to call it.

Have a great day.

Love the camouflage prints on the tree... Natural is it not?!

but I've not seen the rocking horse necklace before!

What a curious Christmas tradition! Have you encountered the "lite" flamenco that Sacramento and or Veshoevius has written about?

Okay. So I'm going to try to bring that shitting log tradition into this years' Christmas. I'm going to try really hard :) I laughed and laughed when I read it.

Hey lovely miss! So funny to hear about those Catalan Christmas traditions..I wonder what the origin is? Also, I WISH we were going to Barcelona but how the trips planned out, it doesn't make sense to go there. The itinerary is: Copenhagen, Berlin, Geneva, Rome, Sardinia, Paris, then London, all in that order! So I guess I really can't complain since we're going to some super legit places anyway.

and YES I like seeing people re-wear things too! We're always on the same wave length ;)

Wow, insane tradition but made me really lol! That necklace is super sweet - reminds me of a favourite childhood ornament we always put on the tree. Happy holidays!

Haha, oh man. That Catalan Christmas tradition is priceless. I can't tell you how I laughed. Well, I'm sure you can imagine! And I'm happy to hear you made it to Barcelona safely. I was concerned when I heard Europe got walloped again by snow.

This dress is such a beauty. I enjoy each time you share photos of it. I'm with you on the wearing things on the blog more than once bit. There is so much more of a realness factor to it all.
