and all of that jiving around
I don't generally subscribe to the idea of grunging up a pretty dress with a leather jacket and motorcycle boots... for one thing, I don't own a leather jacket and motorcycle boots look awful on me, and for another I tend to steer away from the lacier dresses that work with that look. But this particular dress is so creampuff (see here) that I thought it could use some playing down. I quite like the layered result, which is more casual and more comfortable.
I wore this outfit to Europe's largest music store in Cologne (probably more on that later) and then to a party. Albert and I cycled to the party; that is, he cycled and I perched on the back of the bike, cursing and moaning at even intervals. Most uncomfortable means of transportation ever! Although it was better on the way back when I sat on a cardigan. Anyway, yay for trying new things I guess!
P.S. I've had this sweater for fourteen years! Finally fixed the six moth-holes (though have discovered a seventh, grrr)

Uncomfortable, perhaps, but exciting, no? I love to ride on two wheels.
You always have an air about you: with the beret, you look like an aristocrat.

I'm actually quite partial to the 'dress and tough things' look! And I love your booties! I was hoping to find some el naturalisat shoes in the sales, but no luck!
tre chic! It's be fun to bounce around in photos with you ;)
the sweater looks great over this dress and your boots are pretty darn rad. Your pics make me wanna try a jumping shot of my own.

I love the addition of the beret, it really suits you! And I'm so jealous of your continental life...cycling in Cologne *sigh*

I'm a big fan of roughing up girlier dress, so I love this look! And I'm jealous of how elegant you look in your jumping shots! :)

I like the little peats and for lack of better word, scoops of fabric at the bottom of that dress! SO CUTE!
I am kind of all for roughing up the pretty so I really like this, the scarf is very pretty and also I like that your boots are a bit unusual, make it all look that bit more unique and you.
Well you look super cute in this look!!! I kind of like imagining you cursing on a bike through a city. hehe.. Hopefully the party made it all worth it.
Such a chicly tied scarf! Love the jump.

This works--the sweater and the scarf and the boots give the dress an edge, even sophistication! Albert must have strong legs.

emily, the print of your dress matches your blog. i really liked the toned down version it makes for good contrast and sounds like you guys had fun times on one bicycle. my husband and i don't manage too well on one we've never ever gotten very far.
These are some wonderful photos, girl. Love the sweater over dress thing on you so much.
I love the dress and sweater layering idea. Looks really cute.
That dress is so cute! And you definitely layered it really well, so cute without being too obnoxiously there (if that makes any sense.)

Oh, you do a beret well. I have one, but haven't ever worn it - though I do love the look. I will give it a try soon. Inspired!

I love this look! But you know I'm partial to grunging it up ;) The photos also look particularly awesome, high five to Albert for getting such great jump shots!
i like. also, i need a beret.
you can come to my art club if you want :) mostly we just eat and drink and talk about whatever we want (and sometimes we do/share art if we feel inspired).
There's nothing like cozy-ing up a dress especially with a beloved sweater. I've always been partial to that particular shade of charcoal gray.
You look pretty much perfect to me here, comfortable yet cute and stylish outfit, plus the jumping shots are great! I wish I can do that soon haha.
