sizzles and drizzles

Photobucket

Anyone who's been reading in the last few months has seen this dress (with me in it) peering over wine glasses and blowing out birthday candles... it's become my one-stop going out look. My sister Shona bought it six or seven years ago, and we pass it back and forth. Like all good buys, there are times when we hate it and times when we love it. I'm currently in a love phase. It has sleeves....

January is kind of cold even in Barcelona, and it's been drizzling a bit too (I know, poor us, such a hard winter experience. Anyway, I hate rain. But on this Sunday we bundled up, carried cake and cava (Catalan sparkling wine) and went to celebrate Albert's grandma's 80th birthday. How sizzling is that paella?

You and I sound very alike, "its my favorite...it has sleeves." I just wanna be warm!

I love that you and your sister pass the dress back and forth when you get sick of it and then find new life in it again and again.

Such a lovely look! And that's so true about good buys, you love them, then you get tired of them and can't bear to let them go...but then you fall in love again :)

Oh I love that dress SO much. The cut, and the pattern, and the colors and THE SLEEVES. I have very few sleeved dresses and I've been so lazy lately I just want to be able to throw one over tights and be on my way.

Also, please don't post photos of paella like that unless you are going to somehow give me some. Absolutely too delicious looking.

Paella. Looks. AMAZING.

Also, loving that red coat. I've come to the realization that I am a complete and total sucker for coats. Ironic that the reason I first commented on your blog was because of that Sherlock Holmes coat. :)

BTW, have you read Dorothy Sayers/Lord Peter? I tried one, hated it, tried another one and fell in love.

@Carrie: I think they're ok. I quite liked the series the BBC made (in the 80s I think). It was a bit slow-moving so hard to rewatch, but the leads had real chemistry---lovvvve Edward Petherbridge. The books I found a bit pretentious, but readable. :)

I wasn't expecting to see that lovely shade of blue at the bottom of your dress! I thought it great before from previous glimpses, but now... wow :) I like how you and your sister share clothes. My sister and I don't really do that. We just swap things without the intention or expectation of wearing them again ourselves.

I hope the celebration was fun! From the looks of that paella, I know it was at least delicious :)

hahah I dont know if Barcelona weather is like Alicante, but that was the coldest I've felt in my life in winter just because of all the rain but anyway ,glad you're not letting it stop you! that dress is beautiful on you & it's great you can get such long uses out of things (& lucky you a sister to swap with). oh, and to answer your question from a while back, we went to Belgium because we wanted to go somewhere w/ J's flight discounts & have a good Belgian friend we've been dreaming of visiting.
