in a gilded cage

This is definitely one of my favourite outfits of the fall (shame it had to happen right at the end). I've been loving red and yellow so much on other people, but I didn't quite manage to unite them in one outfit myself until now! This skirt was my birthday present to myself, and like most purchases I hummed and hawed and wondered if maybe I shouldn't get the more sensible navy blue colour instead. As always, I ignored sense and went with the brightest option possible, and as always I'm really glad I did. At the end of the day, I don't think I'm much of a "basics" kind of person. I greeted with horror the news that the autumn collections for this year were supposed to be all about minimalism and camel coats. Blechhhhh. Grace Kelly and her tribe are definitely not my style icons.

I guess that's as close to an apology as you're getting for my assaulting your eyes with my fluorescent legs!

El fotógrafo fenominal! I'm a bit bad about giving credit where credit is due. Credit is kind of due all over the place, but basically, recent fantastic photos have been by this wearer of excellent sweaters, summer's fantastic photos were often by my sister, and other photos where frequently I'm missing feet are by me and my tripod.

What an excellent print on the skirt! I'm going to have to check out these Camper brand shoes. You and Franca (Apples and Oranges)both like to wear them.

But Grace Kelly I like.

oh my gosh!!! i love this so much! that skirt is amazing and i always approve of red tights. i'm not a basics person either--last year i had to force myself to go into a store and buy some regular old boring shirts to pair with my more oddball items. well played :)

Aw you look great Emily! I love when girls wear brighter colors during Fall and Winter, it seems like everyone is resigned to wearing black or darker earth tones during these seasons which is so boring!

p.s. give me your bag. thank you.

This is going to my outfit favourites for sure! I am all about minimalism sometimes, but others the more the better, and this outfit is a win! The skirt is perfect in colour and in print, and the mix of red tights makes me miss my own ones that are at Madeira waiting for me till January... I also really like that blouse and ribbon and your shoes look much alike to some I've been coveting from a shoe shop in town haha! Though shopping ban still on!

PS: I also really like your stylish photographer's jumper!

That skirt is absolutely amazing. You look very European chic. Reminds of the silk screens from a great company out of Victoria BC called Smoking Lily. Very whimsical yet elegant. Great combination to get right. You look great!
