em poso com un tomàquet

There was a point on my blog last winter when it seemed I was incapable of wearing any outfit that didn't include some red. All my basics seemed to be red, from my lumberjack shirt (life-saver before I found a coat), to the coat itself, to my beret... This year I've been a bit calmer on the red front... I guess I got a bit tired of it. But well, red is back for me. The funny thing is, in a non-fashion capacity, it's not even my favourite colour (that would be green or yellow). But red does wonders in the winter for slightly anemic people like me. When early mornings start to turn me that disagreeable putty colour, a red hat or scarf do help to put some colour in my cheeks. On this particular day, I decided to have colour on my legs instead...

The skirt twirling photos were kind of fun to do, but there were a goodly number of indecent ones. Note to self not to try this at work!

Photos by Albert

Dress: River Island (last years summer sales), tights: Boots, boots: gift, from Barcelona circa 2007, socks and trenchcoat: H&M, scarf: The Hudson's Bay Company, bag: vintage via Mom, necklace and bicycle pin: gifts from my mom

P.S. If I hadn't bought this dress right before I started blogging, it would likely have made it onto last post's list of treasured blog items!

Fantastic tights! The dress is also super cute!
Haha, I did a twirling post a while back and quite a few ones were twirled too high...little peep show anyone?!

I am in love with your bicycle brooch. And the HBC scarf. I haven't seen those yet. It adds a nice touch.

Last time I took twirling photos I had the same issue...I was shocked when I took a look at the photos later! Twirling decently is an art, it seems :)

I'm finding myself drawn to red lately as well - though my standby color is still mustard yellow. Isn't it wonderful to find a color that makes you feel great no matter what?

I love bright tights, you really pull them off!
I'm slightly anemic too, so I know exactly what you mean about turning putty colored. I've never worn much red though, maybe I should try it out.

I'm really into those red tights. And red is in my top 3 favorite colors. You gotta love the boldness and passion of it. :)

Red looks amazing on you! It's definitely one of my favorite colors to wear too because it not only looks good, it makes me feel a little more cheerful.

Emily, these photos are so beautiful. I love the twirl and red looks great on you and it's certainly a pick me. I love seeing the color red against a winter backdrop...long after the holidays.

I'm a big fan of the pop of red myself, as I tend towards neutrals for the rest of my wardrobe. And the HBC scarf is wonderful. I would love to get some of those iconic pieces in my wardrobe!

Red's one of those colors I hardly ever wear, but I recently bought a red wintery coat, so I suppose I'll be wearing the color a lot more now! That bicycle brooch is wonderful, and that floral dress looks wonderful on you :)

Love this dress on you! The fit and print are gorgeous. When I was a kid I liked dresses solely based on how far the skirt would go out when you twirled... by these photos I'd definitely say this one is a winner!

Totally agree about red in the winter. Somehow I always wind up sticking to black/grey/navy though! I need to break out of my comfort zone. xx

Those photos are gorgeous Emily! That portrait is just so beautiful, Albert sure had the eye!

And the outfit is so adorable too, I love these boots and twirls are my faves (though sometimes indecent yes... but with tights it's not so bad!).

You are so beautiful.
Red is a color that I hardly wear-- I've always strayed from it because I have such a rosy complexion-- but I've seen it worn so wonderfully (ahem, swissy missy) and am inspired.

The twirling photos are fantastic. I've never tried them before but will try soon. :)

haha, I love the reference to the "indecent" photos :-) And the red tights add a nice pop of color. I keep on meaning to e-mail you, but send me your address! I have the dress if you still want it.

I love you moving around in that dress. I also am digging those tights. me and tights, we don't get along that great. I have such a hard time styling them. clearly you dont have the same problem.

@Islabell: Tights aren't my favourite thing either, I've been avoiding outfits with them... but every once in a while they just work!

I think adding bright colours can make it so much more cheerful when it's cold! You look lovely as always.

Yep, this dress looks great with red tights. You always wear red so well. I'm not big on it, though I like it alright. It can definitely be a color that's fun to experiment with.
