let me eat cake

Some days it's still warm enough for bare legs around here. Other days it has been raining like you wouldn't believe (namely on the days when I have to cycle half an hour to my 8 am class--like today, ugh). Anyway, last Sunday was one of the nice days. We bought a cake to have with lunch, one of the politically incorrectly named "gypsy's arm" cakes that are basically chilled cream rolled up in sponge flavoured with something... whisky in this case. Sooo good. Looks a bit like this, but more creme-brulee-ish.

I've just bought my flight home for Christmas, which has left my wallet a good deal lighter.... so I may have to cut down on treating myself to cake for a little while...

This is one of my favourite scarves. My aunt gave it to my grannie years ago, who decided she'd never wear it and gave it to my mom, who decided she'd never wear it and gave it to me. Such a convoluted path to reach it's correct owner!

What a lovely print on your skirt! And those shoes - any chance you know who made them? I love the shoe paired with the black laces. And talk of the cake - oi! What a great way to start my morning - considering a creamyspongeywhiskeysomething. Yum.

He habit of buying a cake on Sunday. Nice habit. Not for diet, obiously. :)

@shefoundstyle: They're Steve Madden. I used to always say, but I've worn them so many times I've gotten lazy. So far they've held up well, in the year and a half I've had them. :)

@Xavi: Indeed! Nor are my daily croissants, sadly!

I love your outfit, especially the skirt. I'm in a huge birds-and-everything-related phase. I even bought a feathered lamp. I have never heard of Snoozer Loser, will check them out!

I've always loved that skirt of yours, and it looks gorgeous with that sweater! <3

I wish air plane tickets weren't so expensive. :-P I'm saving up for a ticket to visit my best friends in the spring. I had all the money I needed - and then I got my hair dyed at the salon. Oops. :D But I didn't spend any more than I knew I would be able to make back before I need to purchase the ticket, so it's all good. ;-D

gawgeous, I'll never get over that skirt. I love how when you follow a blogger for a longer time, you get a sense of what their favorite classic pieces are. I hate it when bloggers don't have favorite pieces!

Every single time you post this skirt is a bliss to my eyes. i keep seeing it in black at UO, but yours mustard is much much better! And isn't old family stuff the best things to own? The scarf is lovely!

I bought my flight back home on Christmas this week as well, my bank account got way emptier but there was no way I would spend Christmas with no family! I am filling my belly with cakes and other yummy things too, haha!

PS: I feel that i have been neglecting commenting and exchanging ideas with my blogging friends but i plan on sending you an e-mail in a week or so, so do expect it!

You're so lucky that you can still wear outfits without tights. I am waiting a while for warmer days to come my way for some reason!

Looking lovely as always Emily.

I love this outfit (and the sound of that cake!) And that first shot reminds me of the pretty girls at school, who used to all stand with pigeon toes... everyone wanted to be like them and pigeon toes became the essential fashion item.

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@Rebeccak: Haha, not sure what I think about that comparison!

I cannot get over your birdcage skirt and your skirt is just absolutely adorable!

how could that scarf pass through so many people deciding they'd never wear it? it's amazing! i love everything about this outfit. i also want some cake.

Emily, Resplendent Tranquility said...

If given the opportunity, I would swipe this outfit from your closet. It may just be my favorite of yours to date. And the scarf story is rather amusing. I can't imagine passing on it - it's far too pretty for that!

I love clothes that is given from a women to another... until it finds it's rightful owner!!

I always adore this skirt, it's so unique, and that little box got my imagination going, I'm interpreting something delicious and sugary!

Yay for going home for Christmas, boo for early class. I thought you might have a little break from school Master?
