canadian lit

I've been holed up in Canada for a couple of weeks, eating home cooking, taking no pictures, writing (yay!), reading (yay!) and working from home (blech). Also, recovering from a nightmarish scenario in which the first leg of my flight home (the flight was from Lisbon, I had to get a flight from Barcelona to Lisbon first) was overbooked, resulting in my losing my flight, having to buy a new one, and involving myself in a long battle with Vueling for the dismally small compensation they finally gave me (which I expect I only got because it's enshrined in EU law). Thanks for nothing again, Vueling Airlines.

But! The Canadian Literature in English is about to be changed for Canadian Literature in French... I'm off to Montreal for the first time ever and I can't wait to explore this city which has been on my must-visit list for a decade. Endless photos to follow!

You're going to Montreal! That makes me sick with jealousy, I was born there but have only been back once since we moved away I get so homesick for Montreal. Make sure you check out Atwater Market and Premiere Moisson for some amazing pastries and baked goods. Can't wait to see your photos I'm sure I'll cry with jealousy!

I've heard people say that English is the most beautiful language because it has a larger lexicon than any other. As a polyglot, is t his something you've thought about?

Nina: Merci! I'll be sure to check them out (and take a nauseating amount of photos) :D

Gordianus: I think English is an amazing language, for its flexibility, but I haven't actually given it much thought. I think Spanish is not a very attractive language; I find it quite paint-by-numbers, Catalan is more subtle. But I often like the languages other people consider ugly, like German and Dutch, so that should be taken with a grain of salt!

Well, you HAVE to go to Schwartz's Deli (but remember, they only take CASH), and St. Denis Rockaberry with the most AMAZING cheese cake. Period. HAVE FUN! :)
