blossom

Sunday in Bonn was sunny, and we rode to a neighbourhood that is famous for its cherry blossoms in spring. Unfortunately, they hadn't quite flowered yet, although they were all clustered in tight pink buds just waiting to burst out, but we did find this beautiful tree later in the day. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is. I'm not sure you can tell, but the blossoms are much bigger than cherry blossoms. We have these in Vancouver too, and I always thought they were plum, but having just googled them, they don't seem to be. Any horticultural experts out there? Ok, the consensus is Magnolia, thanks!

We also saw The Artist (the second time for me). I just love movies that leave me feeling happy, optimistic, and like I want to be a tap dancer. Don't you? ; )

It was still pretty chilly, despite the sunshine.

P.S. I was featured (looking rather glam, I must say) on Life Like Honey, and also on the Smashion Lounge (they do frequent interviews, and I discovered a bunch of other great blogs I'd never heard of there too)!

It looks like it is a magnolia tree (at least that's how we call it in Portugal).

The pictures are fantastic, and so are you!

@Raquel: I thought magnolias were white though!

Gorgeous photos! That tree has the perfect curve for sitting in, it seems :) There's a magnolia tree on my street that bloomed early because of the heat wave, but we had a storm and now it's nearly bare again...so sad! They're lovely if you can catch them, though, as you did.

I'm not sure what kind of tree that is but its gorgeous as are these shots. Seriously, that first shot is brilliant. You remind me a bit of Charlotte Gainsbourg in that first pic. PS thanks for the kind words on my interview. I always wonder whether my humor translates :)

I do love movies that make me feel happy (...although, ok yeah, I love ALL movies!!) and especially Jean Dujardin. He's such an inspiring actor to me.

Leave it up to me to start a comment talking about movies when you are wearing the most beautiful dress ever! It's so sweet and lovely and perfect with the light and scenery. I hope we get blooms here before May too!

Happy Easter Emily ;)

This dress is so beautiful all by itself...it doesn't need the cherry blossoms. And congrats on your growing, er, noteriety.

Hm, I think there are magnolias in several colours. There used to be some purple ones in my high school!

Gorgeous photos, Emily. We had a few magnolia trees at our old house. They were so beautiful. And wow, your dress and all it's lovely detailing is to die for (okay, not literally of course, but you get my drift ;) Nice find!

I never got around to seeing The Artist a second time at the theater (though I wanted to), but I'll definitely be scooping up the DVD. Learning to tap dance would be such fun. Maybe someday!

Ah, I love the magnolia trees! In my earthquake-condemned home we had a huge one that arched over the driveway outside my bedroom window, and it was so beautiful in spring. Your outfit is perfect too, that dress is so lovely and delicate. Also thanks for reminding me I was asked to do an interview on Smashion like a year ago, better fill it in now!

Lovely pictures, intelligent and thoughtful commentary. Glad I found you. Amazing how the equation works, how one blog leads to so many more!!

I loved the previous post as well. Remixing is a joy and I don't care how many times I've worn something, so long as it comes to life again with spontaneity and creativity.

I'll be back!

Love, Jean

I loved reading your interview on Smashion! They interviewed me a few weeks ago and it was super fun. :)
