currywurst

I spent last week in Germany (even I can't keep track of my movements at the moment, but anyway, these photos were taken in Bonn). I packed quite badly, and on top of that the weather got fairly cold and rainy after a day or so, so I think I must have worn this blouse at least five days out of ten. Luckily though, it's extra soft and comfy, so at least I packed one thing sensibly!

I ate so much ice-cream while in Germany--they have an amazing yogurt flavoured one that I could eat until I drop, and also, predictably, I ate a lot of currywurst. This was a currywurst day. I think I need a good long break from it now...

This headscarf is great. You look so relaxed and sophisticated at the same time. If this is too personal you don't have to answer... but i was wondering how in the heck you afford to travel around so much? Tell me your secret so I can come along with you :)

flipping love currywurst, cute outfit, love the layering x

@Kerri: I can't really afford it, at least not much longer. I'm currently coasting on the remains of my savings (I saved for my masters program, and I'm pretty good with money). In the past I've lived abroad teaching, and my boyfriend has supported me a lot in recent years, for which I'm eternally grateful. But yeah, a cold, hard and nasty reality is creeping up on me.

Having said that, inter-European flights are often quite cheap, and I tend to go places where I can stay with someone, so a lot of my travels aren't necessarily as expensive as they seem.

Oh that looked delicious. I have only been to Germany once and it was not a positive experience and I did not really do anything there either, as I got sick, but maybe I will go there again, just to try that dish.

For packing lousy btw, that blouse was good, it looks really nice. :)

Emily: I am sure it can, it was a good mix of patterns! But that 21 years bit, not many believe me, but I am sure it will be better when Im older. Even if I do long after grey hair and wrinkles atm. I understand that people think the same about you, because I find it hard to place your age.

haha we love curryworst (as it is called over here) too! I eat it with ketchup. You look lovely, you suit headscarves so well!

There's something a little bit work wear about this that I really like.Love the blouse and sandals too, like 1950s holiday attire.

Oo I loved the yogurt flavored gelato in Italy. I got it all the time. Currywurst looks yummy. I miss German food!

On to the outfit, I absolutely love how colorful that top is. I see you're into the tie-front just as much as I am. It's such a great way to make a boyish cut shirt look feminine. Love how you mixed all the cool patterns, & I adore your sandals!

I guess this is not possibly high-waisted since it's a dress but I love how you tied your skirt in the front to make that look, you certainly have "the right" proportions for it, you look great!! I love that you mixed print even with your headband, I always think to mix prints in outfits but never know what to do with my headbands. maybe I'll copy you now. Awesome you got to go to Germany!

Dus of Cuddly Cacti said...

ps- is currywurst like bratwurst made with curry? either way looks delicious!

Such a great outfit, love that headband!

@dusanabotswana: I guess so. I'm not sure if it's bratwurst because I'm no expert on German sausage (man, that sounds dirty), but it's a sausage with curry sauce and curry powder on it. Mmmmm. ; )

Oooh yum! Gosh you bounce around Eruope like a ping pong ball!

Can we trade lives for a day? I'd love to hop back and forth between Germany and Spain. Seems like fun...minus the suitcase.

I've never tried currywurst? it looks tasty though!

and I love your hair that way.

i'd probably LOSE weight if i lived in germany, because i don't eat meat. on the other hand, i'd probably just eat twice as much bread. but anyway...

i do find that people have more in common than we think--which is kind of another offshoot of what i was talking about. even if someone dresses differently/likes different "things," we are all human and we all experience life is such similar ways... but maybe our choices have been different/led us down different paths. i don't know. people are just so interesting to me, in all forms. also i want to come to bonn and drink wine with you. i imagine there would be a great deal of clinking glasses.

Currywurst looks and sounds amazing. It's definitely going on the list of foods to try.

I'm really impressed at how cohesive this outfit is. Nine times out of ten I feel dreadfully awkward when donned in mixed patterns.

April said...

I love the way you mixed patterns! Glad you're having fun. :)

like how you used the scarf, and the relation between pieces. I happen to be eating ice cream at this precise moment (typing and creamsickles don't work together).

The more I learn about you, the more depth I sense. You impress me more and more. That's really nice.

Cute outfit. So happy you take pictures and blog about your clothes and travels. Oh and the food you eat. :)

That currywurst looks delicious, yum! And your shoes are delicious too, I'm obsessed with clog-type shoes at the moment...

If you fancy going to the Birds of Prey Centre yourself when you're back in grey rainy England, we got our tickets at a ridiculously cheap price through Groupon and I think they do it fairly regularly so it's worth keeping an eye out...I'm going to take my mum next time!

I've never heard of currywurst. Is the curry in the sauce or in the sausage itself?
