are you looking at me?

Behave yourself... because sometimes the trees really do have eyes... hehe. ; )

I realize that probably none of you believe that I'm actually in England at all, since I'm still uploading pictures of Mexico, but I'm actually really glad I had so many stockpiled. In addition to my continued homelessness (ending tonight), my camera is out of action due to my accidentally deleting the memory card last week. The photos are recoverable, but... oh, it's a long story. Anyway, I won't be showing you pictures of sunny October Greenwich until some time in November, and in the meantime I need to go buy a new memory card.

It's a shame that I didn't have a camera this weekend actually, because the weather here is absolutely beautiful. Seriously, it's been like Guadalajara, but without the humidity and storms!

Anyway, these pictures are actually from Guadalajara, from my endlessly photogenic former neighbourhood (Avenida Libertad, I miss you)!

What a brilliant tree eyeing you up there! The bow on your belt is such a sweet detail :) Love it.

Congrats on the end of homelessness!

Wow that tree is incredible, I have never seen anything like it before. I aodre your red jeans and the bow is a lovely detail.

Very nice pictures. What kind of camera do you have?

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@ A: These were taken with my boyfriend's camera which is a Panasonic of some sort with a Leica lens (there's basically an identical Leica one for a few hundred dollars more. ; ) I can discover the model number if you like. It's not a DSLR, just a regular point and shoot.

We're big believers in not needing an expensive camera to take nice pictures. A lot of pictures on my blog are taken with my $89 Sony, though I'd be lying if I didn't say my boyfriend's is better. Taking photos in good light and a bit of photoshop tinkering can solve lots of problems however!

Sorry I have not been very regular on your blog.
I like your outfit. Specially the belt with the bow. You did not mention where you got that from.
Oh I dig out from my older pics so many times. It helps.

It' all about the bow :)

Those eyes remind me of evil eyes are are prevalent in the middle east, like TURKEY!! :D

Love the eye pictures! You sound like me kinda, where in the world... now? :) But I'm going back "home" soon, whatever that means. What an amazing crazy life, no?

Tree art? Great concept! The vibrancy of the colors used is so... eye-catching ;) I like coming across quirky, out-of-the-ordinary things like this.

Love your red jeans, Emily. What a fun piece to have in your wardrobe. I've had a thing for colored pants and jeans this year, too. I bought a pair of purple jeans a few months back that I've been wearing to death (haven't blogged 'em yet, though).

I'm happy to hear you're no longer homeless!

I'm wondering if there is some cultural meaning to the eyes...

Really liking those red britches. I've been shopping a pair, in the interest of brightness, but haven't come across just the pair I want, yet.

Glad to hear you've found a place.

Emily,

I have DSLR but pictures are not as good as these. I always thought a good picture is 90% composition and 10% camera. I bought DSLR just for night photography.

You are so gorgeous dollface! :)

I'm too wondering about how the eyes got there! :)

Glad the homelessness is ending, but so sorry to hear about the memory card. Yikes.

I have a strange fascination with eyes, especially drawing them, so this is right up my alley! ;) Sooo cool! Bummer about your memory card, but I do enjoy seeing the rest of your Guadalaraja photos! Your red pants are red hot (ooh word play!), and I love your bow belt too! :) Glad you'll have a home by tonight :).

you look rockabilly perfection Emily!

it's funny that type of art work on trees, I've always related Mexico with colour and wood handicraft (don't know why though!) and that is the perfect match relating to mu thoughts haha!

glad you found yourself and apartment! hope it's not too tough when it gets to my time ;)

@ EMILY NICE PICTURES .WERE DID U FIND THIS TREE?The place seems interesting "guadalajara"i saw some pictures from your previous post too.it resembles some indian cities.

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@raji. That's very interesting; a few people have told me that some of the architecture reminds them of India too. I'm not sure why that would be. But I think maybe Mexico and India share a culture of colour. And chaos!
