guanajuato part 2: colour-blocked lounging

Photobucket

Here are the rest of the photos, (the outfit shots) from my day in Guanajuato. It's funny that this playsuit hasn't made an appearance before, since I must have worn it about twice a week all summer long. I resisted buying a playsuit until this summer, but now there's no looking back; they are the world's most comfortable summer staple... until it's time to go to the bathroom.

This one (with the buttons changed) is from Zara, a shop which I generally kind of hate (I know this is sacreligious to some of you). However, it's one of the only shops in Mexico that isn't horrible, so I did acquire a few pieces from there this summer. The day before I left, a vintage shop opened directly under my apartment, the only one I'd ever seen in Guadalajara. Grrrr.

Buying "gorditas de nata," which roughly means "little cream fatties," on the street. Mmmm, I ate so many, I was in danger of turning into one!

and you're right about the photo of ms karina... tabloids today would have a field day. isn't that such a bummer?

Looking lovely :) That 's one mahusive cactus alright!

Don't know what it is a bout Zara.. I don't dislike the clothes but everytime I walk into one of those shops I do a u-turn rightaway. Silly as that sounds I guess it must be the "atmospehere" in there.

Nice pictures, especially the cactus. When we visited Cabo San Lucas last May, we toured the world's biggest cactus farm.

I think I might have delayed my departure for a new vintage store!

I think I would have had a hard time eating just one little cream fattie, too. Good heavens, just the name is making my mouth water ;)

LOVE the composition of the third photo. Everything is spaced so perfectly and the colors are so wonderfully vibrant, especially those of the flowering vine against the yellow paint.

Thank you for your sweet comment today. The Northeastern US is a very beautiful place to live. Sometimes I think about relocating elsewhere, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to give it up. Also, I have a little haiku about chickadees that I almost included in my post, but decided to save it for next time :)

these photos are really good!
I know what you mean about going to the bathroom while wearing playsuits, I have only one and that time is the worse, especially when you're in a hurry haha!
oh and i just can't believe you hate Zara, it's my favourite store! don't know if it is because I'm Portuguese, there are Zara stores everywhere, and I remember going there since I was 6 years old, but it is my favourite :)
and I would love to heat a bunch of those gorditas de nata!!!

These photos are gorgeous. I love the colors of the buildings. I wish we had such beautiful buildings like that in the US...sigh.

Playsuits are like THE perfect summer outfit, I agree 110%

The colors in this town are amazing, I think I would take a picture of each building. Also, those gorditas intrigue me..are they like pancakes?

@NRI Girl: I agree it's a bit confusing, but no, I'm in London, I'm just sharing a few pictures from my last few weeks in Mexico, because I have some, and because I've been too busy in London to do much blog-related yet. Hopefully I'll find an apartment soon and things will calm down a bit!

LOL. So agree!

street food is the best , it reflects the culture and lifestyle of the local , i would love to try one

its really so fun to look at all the amazing photos :)

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys said...

@SMASH: they're kind of like a comination of a pancake and a biscuit, but maybe a bit closer to a biscuit. Mmmmm
@vampire: well, street food in Mexico can be a little risky... I was in bed with a convulsing stomach for three days once after two bites of a weird taco. However, the gorditas de nata are pretty safe.. they're just cream and flour and sugar really!

NRIGirl,

Emily is still getting used to "warm, sunny and bright" London. She is not mentally there...

Once you added your own touch to the play suit, it took on a life of its own.
Nice!

Geeezz that is indeed a huge cactus!! I think I'd be too scared to even venture near it lest I fall into like some kind of cartoon moment! I always moan about stuff like that in cartoons as a lot of the time the stuff they do would be pretty fatal ha ha!

I can't get over how gorgeous you look here! It's not fair! xxx

Haha i've heard of gordita de nata, and have always wanted to try some! they remind me of these things I always get when I go visit my family in the Dominican Republic, they're called arepas and depending on where you go are filled with so many goodies. Anywho, you look absolutely gorgeous in that playsuit!
