how green was my valley
It would be pretty difficult to exaggerate how few autumn and winter clothes I have at the moment. Coming straight from Mexico, I have a lovely collection of summer dresses and blouses, and every morning is an exercise in how to winterize them... and exercise that is not helped by also having only three cardigans and two pairs of tights. Charity shops, here I come! The charity shops can be really good in the UK, I already scored this cozy green Angora sweater for £5...
Right, so I'm not exactly "on location" in these shots as you've come to expect seeing me. Not that London is in any way short of locations, but time is short and tripods are annoying to carry around, and I'm fairly sure most of my friends here wouldn't understand. So here you have my back garden!
Not to despair though! No outfit exists in a vacuum, and here are some shots from the day I wore this particular get-up:
A friend and I walked to the Thames, on one of these beautiful afternoons that London has been having
We found a tiny beach, with access from an ancient set of stone steps
skipped some stones with pretty dismal success
and enjoyed the sunshine. And then got a bit lost going home and ended up wandering up and down the canal in the pitch black! (Not pictured)
On another note, it may be sunny these days but it's absolutely freeeeezing. Here's hoping I find the perfect winter coat this weekend! And that you all have a good one!
Outfit:
blouse: Desigual
sweater: charity shop
jacket: my sister's donated/borrowed
skirt: Urban Outfitters (I think that was my sister's too actually); )
shoes: Victoria

Lovely pictures. My offer for coat is still on if you don't find in London. :)
amei o look!!!
kiss
Beautiful pictures. Nice sweater. I have a question. Is Charity Shop in UK similar to US and Canada's Goodwill Stores?
Beautiful pictures..U look adorable and i love green.
xoxo
You look adorable- I love these pictures. (:
Great outfit and gooorgeous pics xx
Score on that sweater! I always have a hard time with cold weather clothes too. I have a ton of sweatshirts, but I don't really want to look like a 12 year old boy all winter! Beautiful photos- that beach looks so cold but still so pretty! :)
cute i love the jacket!
You always look amazing-- though I can relate on the "dressing for autumn" thing. I swear, it was 70 the other day and then today... poof. No more summer. I, too, have hardly anything but summer frocks.
You look lovely. My favorite picture is the third one-- you are looking away as though you're deep in thought.
Hope you're having a wonderful day gorgeous.
Cool how you have the green throughout your outfit.

cute, cute, cute!!! very nice pictures as well :)

@SG: Yes, a charity shop is like a Goodwill store. Common ones here are Oxfam, Save the Children, Cancer Research, etc. I scored this sweater at the London Buddhist Centre Charity Shop, randomly!
yay for charity shops! it's one of the things I am most excited about to go to England too!!
so no winter coat yet? I am already wearing my H&M one from last here since it's way colder here than in Madeira! but not as cold as in London! :)
oh and can't wait for you to share your flat! I am that nosy yes! haha!
:-) what a nice time you've been having lately! we've been having some beautiful days in Portsmouth too... Driving to different schools in the mornings the light across the sea has been beautiful (who would have thought there would be something good about driving around at 8am?!)
I am also a fan of charity shop-shopping, I love their cheap books!
enjoy the weekend! X
I adore your back garden! Are you going to plant something there?
Gorgeous London pics.
Have a great weekend.

Lovely photos m'dear
Ahh the British skys can be so decieving - it looks sunny but infact it's freezing outside! That's why we've got so good at layering our clothes over the seasons - it's nesecary for survival ;)
x
i dont have many winter clothes...im still in love with bright prints and delicate dresses - an exercise in winterizing is something i will have to do to! your back porch is nice btw! great light in these pictures!

@ Spence: I feel I'm not nearly on the level of you Brits with regards to layering, I need a crash course!
All the best for your coat and general insulation hunt. :)
Happy weekend!
you look so cute!!! love your outfit :D
I love scoring good cold weather wear on the cheap at thrift stores. Your green angora looks so cozy and I like how you wore it with your green sneakers :)
What a quaint little garden you have there. Do you have any plans for it while you're in London?
Great shots from along the Thames. I may sound silly in stating this, but I've always found it to be absolutely necessary that I stroll along the Thames whenever it is that I take my long thought of and wished for trip to London.
Enjoy your weekend, too! :)
oh I miss London so much! that is a great spot by the beach you found! Woow, never thought that existed there!
it is cool you are a Canadian nomad, I am also a Canadian living abroad although not as nomad as you but somewhere in between you and the "stay at home" ppl
xoxo
Following you fellow Canadian nomad!
Catita
Crafty use of summer clothes as winter clothes. Don't worry, I definitely do it too. You look adorable, anyway. And you just have the most amazing life, always travelling.
ooh girl hopefully that mustard cardigan arrives soon! It should at least, hopefully by the end of the week or early first week of November--I know you will look great in it!
Skipping stones by the Thames sounds so dreamy to me, need to work on my rock skipping game though :X
xx
MILK TEETHS
I love the photos. That one of old house is amazing! And, you look beautiful :)
xoxo from Hannie
I love that black-green combination :)
Btw, thank you for stopping at my blog! xx
I liked the shoe.
and that a beautiful beach!
xx
I love your blazer and your shoes! :D I always want to visit Europe so badly after reading your blog ):
Very nice, a wonderful sunset on the beach and shopping in London.
I think you're doing a great job for dressing more "Fall-like."
Thank you for stopping by my blog and telling me how you too haven't really shared your blog with your family. It really does make me feel a little bit less alone out here in this blogging world.
You're welcome back to my blog anytime! :)

Emily--I love the vicarious sense of travel I get from your blog...and the various layers in your outfit work nicely.
Cute photos! I used to live in the Philippines (where it's also summer all year round) so when I first came to the Midwest, I had no idea how to dress for winter and had no sweaters, coats or anything! I can totally relate!
lovely pictures :) i love your back garden - its adorable!! fab outfit as always girl

Oh london....i miss it.
you look so lovely--sounds like an absolutely charming day! that blazer is a beaut.
i do live in vermont, but i took a couple of trips up to montreal in rapid succession this summer, so that's probably when you found my blog! i live in northern vt (only about an hour from the border), so we try to make it a point to cross over as much as we can--not only because vermont has no good shopping, but it makes me feel oh-so-international since i've stopped wandering the world :)
Hi! Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my blog :)
I actually have more autumn/winter clothes than spring summer (yes I do love the cold breeze) ^^
But I loved you outfit and the photos!
Following you :)

Great outfit! I love that tee with the colourful flowers (:
I'm following. Will you follow me too?
Loving your photos and very cute and unique outfit!

I have the same problem! I moved back from California to Germany this spring, and now I'm finding myself without enough properly warm tights (though sweaters in abundance)!
Thanks for commenting. Your blog looks nice!
Cheers,
poet
Pretty photos! I also like your look! Especially the colours and the print of the skirt!
