spring fever

Now that my "Hits of the Winter" are out of the way (who really wants to dwell on winter anyway), let's get on with the real star... spring! The weather has been so unbelievably great the last week or so... so obviously I've been stuck inside with school/a boring data entry job. I'm not complaining though, money is always a good thing!

I've been saving photos of girls in pastel yellow skirts and floaty dresses and cropped sweaters, but Spring is actually jeans season for me. I get to this time of year and I'm soooo sick of tights, which have all lost their elastic generally, but it's too late to start buying new ones. I'm generally more of a dresses person, but I actually love jeans--on other people. I've been avoiding skinny jeans like the plague for the past 6 years, but after seeing the lovely Zoƫ working them like no other, I headed straight to the shops (and broke my shopping ban, but I am unrepentent since I've worn them about 12 days out of 14 so far). So, this is transitional dressing at Ruby Slipper Journeys.

Albert thinks blog posts should have the minimum amount of pictures to get the point across, and I also have the "less is more" attitude, but bear with me here please! I love these photos, I loved this day, my hair is actually doing something that is recognizable as a hairstyle and there are daffodils! Oh, and some of the backdrops aren't so scenic, but that's because I'm trying to get away from the myth on this blog that I live in a park surrounded by wilderness. I love the canal, but it's still a very urban setting.

Spring forward! I must not forget to change my clock this weekend as my flight is on Sunday...

Nailed the landing. ; )

jeans: Warehouse, blouse: Zara, shoes: Aldo, hat: The Bay
(ha, I realize that two of my favourite items are from the twin evil empires of Zara and Aldo... just shows that it's always worth a look)

Hey - you look very happy!! Where's spring?? I live in Greece for crying out loud - and we still get cold weather!
You look so beautiful with the daffodils and the hat and all! And I still like your lovely canal! Kisses (and congrats to Albert for the photos!)

Glad you decided to post all the pics! The outfit is very cute and the pics (totally risking sounding like a total pompous ass right now) very atmospheric. Feels like I can FEEL the spring weather - we're headed into autumn right now so it's much appreciated!

You look adorable. You have such a classic look--the blouse and hat really emphasize the feeling that you should be exploring an old wardrobe going to Narnia or something. (I mean that in the nicest way ever!)

Skinny jeans are amazing, but you have to style them right to avoid being tarty. You did a good job!

La primavera es asombrosa, a todos nos provoca un estado emocional de completa felicidad, incluso a los que sufrimos de alergias en primavera lol.
Te ves linda, me encanta el lazo en tu blusa y el sombrero.

nos vemos :)

Lovely pictures, you look so happy and springy! ... I'm the complete opposite, I'm a jeans person, and as much as I love skirts and wish I could wear them more often, working with men makes me think about it twice! ... Just checked Zoe, you're right she's so good! ... Hope you get some time off school soon and get to enjoy the lovely weather, and get to spend some of that hard working earned money!

this outfit is so lovely and springlike! oddly enough, i am not a jeans-wearer, mostly because i don't have darling floaty blouses like this one (though i sure wish i did).

i think you're definitely right that people tend to romanticize travel (i am the worst offender of all time), but i feel like there is so much to SEE in the world. i'm not even necessarily looking for "adventure" (i don't think), because travel (at its best) is a pretty meditative experience for me, though i definitely would want to meet local people and do exciting things.

i don't know, maybe i romanticize it because i am most present when i am traveling, living fully in the moment. it's a lot more difficult to do that in daily life, since i'm always looking forward to whatever might be next...

Loving the hat! A good hat always gives a face a sense of character. The hair is looking good. I am very impressed with the jump shots.

I'm a huge jeans kinda gal. So great you've been breaking yours in. I love your hat and your sweet bangs swooped to the side. I think it's certainly worth it if you're getting some good wear out of it. Have a lovely weekend. It's been hot and cold in NYC. It snowed twice this week and immediately melted in the afternoon sun. Have a great one lady.

You've been avoiding skinny jeans when you look so amazing in them?!?

And danke for all the soho tips! Yeah, I am fast becoming aware that London ain't cheap...at all. Neither are the 90% of the places I'm going to in Europe. Meh. I've been furiously saving my pennies so we'll see how far that gets me! Also, we'll be in London May 27-30 so obviously we must meet up, i'll let you know more info as I get it :)

and thanks for the compliment on the video lady...yeah some of the other girls are....different, and i'll leave it at that ;-)

I am so envious. It's officially spring where you live and you're wearing soft cotton tops. :D I wish spring would hurry up and get over here too. Speaking of NYC I just discovered a shop called Layla, that looks real pretty. Would have gone there myself if I could, but for now I guess I'll live vicariously through you. Here's their link.

just so darn wonderful. its makes me so cheerful :) your straw hat is so charming and so to is your bow blouse. you do skinny jeans like no other!

Gorgeous photos, simply gorgeous! Everything about your outfit screams spring. And wearing sandals in March? Sigh.

Your new jeans look good on you! I like skinny jeans, but find them to be quite peculiar things. I've never been able to find the same fit twice even when buying the same style from the same store. Frustrated (and defeated), I opted to let other styles of jeans back into my life and have been content since ;)
