a woman's home is her castle

I'd like to start this post with a disclaimer... apparently December is the month when I get heartily spoiled. When I surveyed my calendar at the beginning, the weekends went a bit like this: castle, castle, castlelike structure, home (Christmas), home (New Year). So just so you know... this is not the way my life generally is!

So, having done a day trip to a castle last week, we actually upped the ante and stayed in a castle hotel this past weekend. Absolutely magical. I'm not apologizing for any photo overloads!

a nighttime arrival...

after dinner I chilled in the library...

then retired to drink some sherry in the bedroom

terrible shadows and light, but you get the idea... view from the window

the castle by daylight, upon leaving.

Can I go back and live there please?

Wearing an oysho blouse, warehouse jeans and vintage sweater the first night, same oysho blouse and american apparel dress in the morning

P.S. In my dream world, I would actually be wearing this to stay at a castle

Photos mostly by Albert, who was confirmed on this trip to be a better photographer (and possessing a better lens) than I.

First of all that's the perfect dress for a castle stay. I am so jealous of all of your adventures! I'd love to stay in a castle someday, or even see one in real life!

My goodness the moon looks unreal. I am seriously jealous that you got to stay there. My next hotel stay better look like this one or I am going to be one unhappy camper.

I really do love the dress you are wearing and you look picture perfect in it.

Ok princess, I'm officially jealous! What castle did you stay in?? It is so beautiful, especially the tapestries, the views, oh gosh, everything. I also really love both of your outfits. The colors totally remind me of a princess. Also, I don't know how big you are on TV, but you should probably be watching Once Upon a Time.

This is probably just stating the obvious, but I'm beyond jealous of you! There's actually a old-ish castle near my job, so I may have to take a trip there someday soon.
Anyway, I love the soft pinks in your outfit! That dress is great :)

Ok dear, soon we are going to have to call you Duchess Emily, this life you lead is just too elegant!

The castle is amazing and sherry and a fire place? Holiday's best! You look just perfectly at ease in those grandiose settings Madame.

My heart is aching! That just sounded like my DREAM weekend. I'm glad December is treating/will be treating you well. We haven't got snow here in Canada yet, but we can always keep our fingers crossed for a White Christmas to complete the well-castled month!

That looks incredible! Can you tell us the name of the castle? It makes me think of the Yoko Tsuno comics I used to read as a girl. If she wasn't on adventure in space, she was usually staying in spectacular castles throughout Europe: http://dekluizenaar.mimesis.nl/wp-images/eltz0.jpg

Also, I'm intrigued by the tapestry above you in the 5th picture. It looks like a beautiful copy of one of the tapestries in the series of "The Lady and the Unicorn". Did anyone there tell you anything about it?
