the highline

Sick of me in this scarf yet? Too bad... that's what living out of a carry-on is all about. It's something I'm doing again for the next three weeks too, which is so uninspiring I can't even tell you. And this outfit is very much a carry-on leftovers outfit. However, I do kind of love this sweater, as cheap and synthetic as it is. I've been really loving Liebemarlene and her simple reworking of the same formula over and over this spring, so when she started wearing a loose cropped sweater, I knew I had to have one. I hadn't actually been to H&M for ages mainly because I don't want to be tempted into buying things regular price, but I just knew it would be the place to indulge my need of a trend, and it was.

So, this was my second to last day in New York, and in the afternoon we went to the Highline. A friend in my course in London had told me about this; it's essentially a raised avenue/park, built on the derserted tracks of the elevated train. A great use of abandoned space, a great way to get people out and sharing public space in a semi-social way, and generally a cool idea. There are even train tracks remaining, which have been converted into gardens, and people can stroll, or sit on deck chairs. Glad we made it over there.

That sounds like a great place to chill out! And I'm not really tired of that scarf since it reminds me of Portugal and also since you wear it really in nice ways.

I really like your latest pictures, the new camera was sure a great investment.

PS: I love H&M, if you look closely you can get cute quality things from there.

@Krystal: Somehow we didn't get very many pictures of the place, but it was more a place to enjoy the surrounding views anyway. It was essentially a pedestrian street, like you'll often find in Europe, but elevated.

@Raquel: I definitely don't mean to put H&M down. You can find some awesome stuff in there. I guess I just haven't been "regular price shopping" in a while.

I guess these are pictures using SLR. Your picture is very good (Second from top). Good picture of city capturing 'not so nice' parts...(third one from top). I am taking photography lessons (already done 4 out of 8) so looking pictures more carefully.

@A: The 'not so nice' part is Chelsea, a very, very, very posh area by the looks of things! ; )

I love the cropped top with your dress and oxfords. That scarf is also really cute. I love the pattern.

I've never been to New York, but I'm definitely adding that to my mental checklist of things to do in New York. It sounds neat.

Train tracks converted into gardens - amazing!

Liebemarlene is the queen of simple chic. I always look forward to her updates! You wear this cropped sweater so well. I think it's found perfect outfit-mates in that dress and those shoes.

H&M is the one first hand store I'll let myself spend money in. Their basics are unbeatable.

I could never get sick of this scarf, it's so lovely.

I don't recall seeing this scarf before...so I'm not tired of it. So, I'm curious how your preconceptions of NY compare to the actuality.

I'm so glad you made it to the highline too. This is right up your alley. Not sure if you checked out the images but you can see what it looked like before and the whole process of designing It's really amazing. Sometimes after book club my lady friends and I stroll up along the high line. Have a great weekend...looking forward to see what you've packed for the next few weeks. You're good at packing. I'm impressed with your savvy clothing choices

I am readying myself to live out of a suitcase, my darling inspiration!

You look absolutely beautiful, something I cannot stress enough. Might I add that I am envious of the fact that you were able to go to HM? There isn't one for hours of here. Ho, hum.
