jumping for joy in central park

This was the first day in New York, when everything was bright and freezing, and I walked around in a "am I really here?" sort of a daze. A lot of people told me that it's their dream to go to New York, but I have to say, it was never my dream. I always kind of wanted to go, but not the way I wanted to go to London, or Berlin, or Buenos Aires (two of those three I still haven't been to). But New York really surpassed my expectations. I walked around, clutching my coat around me and cursing that bitter wind, but feeling all the time that this place was really cool. I would 100% spend a summer there (my brain is in overtime trying to figure out how), but in the meantime I'm going to live it all again through these pictures.

More to come, especially since the next day was the debut of our (Albert's) new toy...

Sorry vegetarians... but this pastrami sandwich is one of the reasons I can't join your ranks. It was so melt-in-your-mouth good. Mind you, for $16, it should be.

BUENOS AIRES! That is at the top of my list. I want to go to Argentina so badly. My boyfriend went in college and I'm so jealous.
Love your pictures! :)

@Chantilly: I thought I was going in the spring. Hehe. I've lived in humid places before so I can imagine... but I imagine the city comes alive with everyone lolling on the grass etc.

i really want to go back to new york, but i need to have money when i visit :) i want to do it right! the past couple of times i went were with school trips in high school (band/chorus) so we had a great time for free and saw all the major sights, but didn't actually EXPERIENCE the city because we were so chaperoned... maybe it's because i've always lived so close the the city that it hasn't really been a place i've been desperate to visit (since it would be so easy to do so, it never happens), but i've always wanted to live in brooklyn. it just seems like the most fascinating sorts of people move to new york--what company i would keep!

That pastrami sandwich looks so yummy. I had no idea this was you first trip to NYC. So glad I was able to make a cameo appearance. You will love Berlin and Buenos Aires. I'm a huge fan of both cities. Berlin in the summer makes my heart go bumpety bump. Hands down my favorite. I love your floral scarf paired with your sweet floral blouse. * London is one city I'd really like to visit.

The picture of you on the bridge is excellent. I have only ever visited NYC once, for a week, 30 years ago. I remember feeling overwhelmed by the crowds on the sidewalk in a dizzying way, but i was able to find my way around fairly easily.

I just wanted to let you know of course I don't have any problem with people deciding for themselves who they want to hang with, nothing feminist or anti-feminist about that. It's just that you shouldn't let prejudice guide your decision or notions about women.

I get sick and tired of relationship talk too :D

and you look wonderful like always! and thanks for your profound comment :)

Awesome - that sandwich even looks good to me (after nearly a decade of being veggie the husband and I still freak people out when we geek out over our favourite meats LOL)

My blog reader is bloated right now too - don't worry about commenting about all those posts btw silly! ;) Although maybe I am only saying that and I secretly keep a tab so I can reciprocate (what a tounge twister) comments in exact numbers.. sometimes I wonder if some people do that :D

I'm happy to hear that, despite the cold snap, New York exceeded your expectations. I'm always awed by places that manage to do that... how in an instant you feel overwhelming comfortable and at ease regardless of your unfamiliar environment.
